Google 2016 Candidate Searches Now include Campaign Funding Details & Search Trends

Google announced today new election-related search results adding campaign funding details for candidate-specific searches, as well as candidate search trend comparisons.

Now, searches for a specific candidate, along with the term “campaign finance,” will return campaign finance information from the Center for Responsive Politics.

Today, working with one of the most respected data sources in the industry, the Center for Responsive Politics, we’re making presidential campaign finance information easy to access and understand, right from Google Search.

The campaign funding insights include the breakdown of money donated by SuperPACs versus individual donations, along with which industries have made the largest contributions.

Google has also added search trends to candidate-specific searches: “When you search for a given candidate you can see how others have searched for them and their opponents over time.”

In January, Google introduced its 2016 election candidate cards and later expanded the candidate card information to include primary voting reminders.
